Telehealth and Zoom video for lactation consulting services

Telehealth is a great way to identify breastfeeding issues from the comfort of your home. I have experience in telehealth assessments via triage and comprehensively.

Many of the same assessments and interventions can be done as in home. For example: oral assessments, latching techniques, pump fit/guidance, milk supply issues, engorgement, bottle feeding, and back to work care plans.

I have numerous tools that will be used to demonstrate any advice given!

*Telehealth is not a good fit if your baby is having weight issues or preterm/late-preterm.

Be Supported

Expert Lactation Care Covered by Insurance

Breastfeeding can feel overwhelming when you are dealing with nipple pain, latch issues, low milk supply, pumping questions, or concerns about whether your baby is getting enough milk. Nurturing Connections provides personalized lactation services for families looking for a trusted lactation expert near me or lactation services near me in Orange County, CA.

Led by Rachel, a Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Registered Nurse (RN), Nurturing Connections offers compassionate, clinically informed care for breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, milk supply concerns, and postpartum feeding challenges. Rachel combines pediatric nursing experience, hospital-based lactation care, postpartum support, and a holistic understanding of infant feeding to help families feel supported and informed.

Does Insurance Cover a Lactation Consultant?

Many families ask, “Does insurance cover a lactation consultant?” In many cases, lactation care may be covered by insurance, especially when billed as preventive breastfeeding support. Coverage depends on your specific plan, benefits, and network status.

Nurturing Connections works to make expert lactation care more accessible by helping families understand their insurance options. Some plans may cover lactation consultations at 100%, while others may require verification, out-of-network reimbursement, or a superbill.

Personalized Lactation Services Near You

Every parent and baby has a different feeding journey. Some families need help in the first few days after birth, while others need support weeks or months later with supply changes, pumping, bottle feeding, or returning to work.

Lactation services may help with:

  • Painful latch or nipple pain
  • Low milk supply or decreasing milk supply
  • Baby not gaining weight as expected
  • Latch difficulty or shallow latch
  • Pump fit and flange sizing
  • Exclusive pumping support
  • Bottle feeding and paced feeding
  • Engorgement, clogged ducts, or oversupply
  • Returning to work while breastfeeding
  • Prenatal  breastfeeding preparation
  • Tongue tie, lip tie, or oral tension concerns

Rachel takes time to listen, observe feeding, assess possible causes, and create a realistic care plan based on your baby’s needs and your feeding goals.

In-Home, Office & Telehealth Lactation Support

Nurturing Connections offers flexible lactation care options, including in-home, office, and telehealth support.

During an appointment, Rachel may review your feeding history, observe a feeding, assess latch and positioning, evaluate milk transfer, review pumping equipment, provide flange sizing guidance, and help create a customized feeding plan.

Telehealth lactation services can be helpful for pumping questions, milk supply concerns, back-to-work planning, prenatal education, and general breastfeeding support. In-person care may be recommended for more complex concerns, such as infant weight gain issues or detailed oral function assessment.

Compassionate Care From an Experienced IBCLC

Rachel’s background as an IBCLC and RN allows her to approach lactation care with both technical knowledge and compassion. She has experience in pediatric nursing, postpartum care, special care nurseries, outpatient lactation, NICU support, and breastfeeding education.

Her goal is not to pressure families into one feeding path. Instead, she helps parents understand what is happening, what options are available, and how to move forward with confidence. Whether your goal is exclusive breastfeeding, pumping, combo feeding, or simply getting through a difficult stage, Nurturing Connections provides care that respects your body, your baby, and your family.

FAQs About Lactation Experts

Many insurance plans cover lactation consultants, especially when lactation care is billed as preventive breastfeeding support. Coverage depends on your insurance provider, plan benefits, and network status.

Look for an IBCLC, or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. An IBCLC has advanced training in breastfeeding, milk supply, latch, pumping, and infant feeding support.

A lactation consultation may include feeding history, latch assessment, positioning help, milk transfer evaluation, pump fit guidance, bottle feeding support, and a personalized care plan.

Yes. A lactation expert can help evaluate milk removal, latch, pumping routine, feeding frequency, flange fit, and other factors that may affect milk supply.

Yes. Pain may be caused by latch issues, positioning, oral tension, nipple trauma, engorgement, or pump fit problems. A lactation consultation can help identify the cause and improve comfort.

Telehealth can be helpful for pumping support, milk supply questions, prenatal education, back-to-work planning, and many common breastfeeding concerns. Some situations may require in-person care.

You can schedule support during pregnancy, immediately postpartum, or months into breastfeeding. It is best to reach out when feeding feels painful, stressful, confusing, or unsustainable.
