Cranial sacral Therapy with Rachel

What is your baby telling you?

Your baby is a sweet spirit that uses different body language and vocal cues to communicate. I often hear mothers concerned that their baby is uncomfortable or in pain being  told  "they are just a difficult baby, lazy, or they will grow out of it." Your baby is telling us how they feel, what is wrong! I'm here to listen with you.

Cranial sacral therapy is a gentle massage for your baby that can assist in removing restrictions and restore natural body alignment and comfort.  I will listen to you and your baby to find a comfortable position using a gentle touch. You will often find me working on your baby while rocking or  on the floor doing tummy time with your little one, helping them understand their own bodies and assist with their long term development.

Pediatric Cranial Sacral Therapy in Orange County, CA

When a baby is uncomfortable, feeding poorly, struggling with latch, or unable to settle, parents are often told to “wait and see.” But babies communicate through their bodies long before they can use words. Tightness, oral restrictions, shallow latch, digestive discomfort, head preference, difficulty with tummy time, or tension after birth may all be signs that your baby needs additional support.

Nurturing Connections provides pediatric craniosacral therapy for infants, young children and adults in Orange County, CA. Led by Rachel, a Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Registered Nurse (RN), and trained cranial sacral therapy provider, care is gentle, patient-centered, and designed to support your baby’s comfort, feeding function, and body alignment.

For families searching for cranial sacral therapy near me or cranial sacral therapy Orange County, Nurturing Connections offers a thoughtful approach that looks at the whole baby not just one symptom.

What Is Cranial Sacral Therapy for Babies?

Cranial sacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on bodywork technique that uses light touch to help release tension patterns in the body. For infants, this type of therapy may support comfort, mobility, feeding mechanics, and nervous system regulation.

Birth can place pressure on a baby’s head, neck, jaw, spine, shoulders, and pelvis. This may be more noticeable after a long labor, fast delivery, C-section, vacuum extraction, breech positioning, or other birth interventions. Even when birth goes smoothly, some babies develop tightness or asymmetry that affects how they feed, sleep, digest, or move.

Pediatric craniosacral therapy may help babies with:

  • Latch issues or latch pain
  • Tongue  or lip restrictions
  • Sucking irregularities
  • Feeding difficulties
  • Colic symptoms
  • Gas or digestive upset
  • Recessed jaw
  • Head or spinal asymmetries
  • Neck, jaw, hip, or body tightness
  • Difficulty with tummy time
  • Difficulty sleeping or settling
  • Tension  after birth interventions
  • Reflux

The goal is not to force movement or manipulate the baby. Instead, Rachel uses gentle touch, observation, and positioning to help your baby’s body soften, organize, and function more comfortably.

Cranial Sacral Therapy and Feeding Support

Feeding is a whole-body activity. A baby needs coordinated movement of the tongue, lips, jaw, cheeks, neck, shoulders, diaphragm, and body to latch deeply, suck effectively, swallow, breathe, and transfer milk.

When babies have tension in the jaw, neck, tongue, shoulders, or hips, feeding may become difficult. Parents may notice clicking, shallow latch, nipple pain, leaking milk, frustration at the breast, short feeds, long feeds, poor transfer, gas, reflux-like symptoms, or inconsistent bottle feeding.

Because Rachel is also an IBCLC and RN, she evaluates cranial sacral concerns through both a bodywork and lactation lens. This can be especially helpful when feeding problems involve both oral function and body tension.

Cranial sacral therapy may be part of a broader care plan that includes latch support, positioning changes, oral function assessment, pumping guidance, weighted feeds, pediatric care, dental evaluation, or other referrals when appropriate.

Gentle, Individualized Care for Infants and Toddlers

Every session is adapted to your baby’s needs and tolerance. Some babies receive care while being held, rocked, nursing, resting on the floor, or practicing tummy time. Rachel follows your baby’s cues and works in positions that feel safe and comfortable.

For toddlers, pediatric craniosacral therapy may support concerns such as ongoing asymmetry, mobility issues, tongue restrictions, restlessness, picky eating, teething tension, speech-related oral patterns, or sleep challenges.

The focus is always on gentle support, never force. Parents are included in the process and are given practical education to better understand what their baby’s body may be communicating.

Why Choose Nurturing Connections?

Nurturing Connections combines clinical lactation knowledge, pediatric nursing experience, and cranial sacral bodywork in one supportive setting. Rachel has extensive experience working with infants, postpartum families, special care nurseries, and complex feeding concerns.

Her approach is rooted in listening to parents, to babies, and to the subtle signs that may explain why feeding, movement, or comfort feels difficult. Families receive care that is compassionate, technically informed, and individualized.

If your baby seems uncomfortable, struggles to latch, has colic-like symptoms, prefers turning one direction, has tension after birth, or simply does not seem settled in their body, cranial sacral therapy may be a helpful next step.

Testimonials

pediatric craniosacral therapy

“Working with Rachel has been one of the most helpful things in early postpartum. She provides so much insight & helps make sure my breastfeeding journey is off to a strong start. Even as a second time mom it was so reassuring to have her check my babies latch & ensure they were transferring milk effectively. Positioning tips etc. are hugely beneficial as well!

Rachel did cranial sacral therapy on both of my girls & I saw a huge difference in latch & comfort when nursing. Particularly my second baby had a very tight upper lip when she was born, so much it was making her nose appear crooked! Rachel did the body work & we literally watched her upper lip relax, her nose change & even the shape of her head adjust….it was amazing! Afterwards she was latching more evenly on both sides while feeding. I’d highly recommend her help here!”

-Anna J.

"I was referred to Rachel by my daughter’s physical therapist because she was having increased difficulty nursing and breastfeeding due to a tongue tie. From the very first visit I knew we were in the best hands. She combined her deep knowledge with the most gentle, encouraging approach, and within just two sessions we were successfully breastfeeding, something I wasn’t sure would even be possible! Her cranial sacral techniques worked wonders, and she was always there to troubleshoot whenever new challenges came up.

What stood out most was how genuinely she cared, checking in on us after our appointments, making sure we were still doing well, and offering guidance whenever we needed it. Rachel made me feel completely supported and comfortable during a time that can feel so overwhelming. I am endlessly grateful for her help and could not recommend her enough to any parent on their feeding journey or anyone considering cranial sacral therapy for their little one."

-Rebecca N.

Rachel is an absolute lifesaver when it comes to breastfeeding! She would always conduct Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST)  on my daughter and identify the areas where she was holding tension, allowing her to release it. One time the tension was released in my daughters cheek, my daughter’s latch became much stronger immediately. Another instance was when she worked on my daughter’s shoulder, and within a week, she was rolling over from back to belly and belly to back. Working with Rachel gives me immense peace of mind because she acts as the interpreter for my daughter and me, as she can’t express what hurts.

-Victoria P

"........Her knowledge and experience is impressive and extremely valuable. She has tons of connections in the field that helped me find connect with other professionals that together allowed for us to successfully get my son to nurse without having his tongue tie clipped/lasered. In addition to doing some chiropractic work and seeing a pediatric dentist (all recommended by Rachel) I worked with Rachel to meet my goal of solely nursing. Seeing the dentist was to have the tongue tie lasered which I chose not to do especially after taking Rachel’s suggestion and doing cranial sacral body work with him."

FAQs About Pediatric Cranial Sacral Therapy

Pediatric craniosacral therapy is a gentle bodywork approach for infants and children. It uses light touch to help release tension and support comfort, alignment, feeding function, movement, and regulation.

When performed by a trained provider, cranial sacral therapy for babies is gentle and non-forceful. Sessions should always follow the baby’s cues and comfort level. Rachel uses soft touch, careful positioning, and a patient-centered approach.

Babies may benefit from cranial sacral therapy if they have latch issues, feeding difficulties, oral tension, colic symptoms, digestive upset, head preference, body tightness, difficulty with tummy time, or tension after birth interventions.

It may help when feeding issues are related to body tension, jaw tightness, oral restrictions, or difficulty coordinating latch and suck. Because Rachel is also an IBCLC, she can evaluate both feeding mechanics and body tension.

Cranial sacral therapy does not remove a tongue tie, but it may help reduce related tension patterns and support better oral function. It can be especially helpful before or after a tongue or lip tie evaluation or release.

Rachel observes your baby’s movement, comfort, body tension, feeding concerns, and parent-reported symptoms. She uses gentle touch while your baby is held, rocked, resting, or doing tummy time. Sessions are calm and guided by your baby’s cues.

The number of sessions depends on your baby’s needs, birth history, feeding challenges, and response to care. Some families notice changes quickly, while others benefit from ongoing support as part of a larger feeding or bodywork plan.

Look for a trained pediatric craniosacral therapy provider with experience working with infants. For babies with feeding challenges, it can be especially helpful to work with someone who also understands lactation, oral function, and infant development. Nurturing Connections provides cranial sacral therapy in Orange County with an integrated lactation and infant-care approach.
